Boost the immune system
Sports Massage is extremely beneficial, however, there are some circumstances where it might not be suitable:
If the client has recently experienced trauma eg. Acute inflammation/open wounds/fractures/dislocations/ruptures. Massage would increase blood flow and so possibly blood loss.
Clients with untreated high blood pressure would be unsuitable as massage results in increase venous flow, increase venous return and so increased blood pressure.
Clients suffering from coughs/colds are unsuitable due to the spread of infection.
Clients who have undergone recent surgery may be unsuitable due to healing of wounds. Abdominal surgery requires between 4-6weeks recovery until massage is safe.
Clients who have received a steroid injection need to wait a minimum of 10 days due to the risk of massage moving the steroid.
Clients who are pregnant for the first time or have had previous complications should wait at least 16weeks before receiving a massage.
Pregnant clients who have previously had uncomplicated births should wait 12weeks.
Massage is suitable for all ages but minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian at all times. Consent is required from both.
Clients who are not registered with a GP are unsuitable for massage as they are not covered by our insurance.
